When a young girl’s heartfelt wish to have a MasterClass with the 2011 MasterChef winner, Kate Bracks comes true… I was honoured to be asked to capture all the laugh, hugs and special memories for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
As a mother and a photographer, I feel very blessed… I have healthy, happy kids and I love my work. So when the Make-A-Wish foundation got in touch with me and asked if I’d be willing to donate my time and talents to this worthy cause, I was happy to participate.
A beautiful young girl, Caitlyn, had been battling a life threatening condition, and whilst undergoing treatment in hospital, tuned in to watch MasterChef and her favourite contestant Kate every week – it kept her spirits up and gave her something to look forward to. After receiving a heartfelt letter at the Make-A-Wish foundation, they approached Kate to see if she would help make this brave young girl’s wish come true. Needless to say, when Kate heard about Caitlyn’s Masterclass wish, she agreed to jump on the next plane and create a special ‘chocolate cake’ junior masterclass for Caitlyn and her supportive brother Jack.
It really was a privilege to capture the excitement, laughs, hugs and cooking on camera, then present all the images to Caitlyn and her family to treasure. She’s a very special young girl and deserved to have such a memorable day, and Kate Bracks, I have to say, was so genuinely caring and giving of her time and attention, it was hard to keep a dry eye in the house!
