Every now and then, I meet a woman who genuinely inspires me… not the stereo-typical ‘high achiever who’s making a motza!’, but instead a real woman, who’s passion, dedication, and honest humanity, sees her successfully running a business, raising a family, experience love and cope with loss, and yet still, is making a difference. Terri Irwin from Australia Zoo, was the highly entertaining and moving keynote speaker at the brilliant Business Chicks Breakfast, held at the elegant Sofitel Hotel in Brisbane last week. This quarterly event, hosted by Channel 7 presenter and MC extraordinaire – Jillian Whiting, is a fantastic highlight on the business women’s calendar, an event not to be missed.
You could feel the awe, as 400 women (and a few confident men!) listened to her inspiring life story, and the profound lessons she has learned along the way. With a wicked sense of humour, Terri had us laughing out loud, as she compared the love making skills of Crocodiles to those of Aussie men! We witnessed her absolute love of her children and her iron will to continue on, accepting that we all grieve in different ways. Everyone walked away feeling uplifted, inspired and all the better for having gained a more indepth insight, into the woman behind ‘the man’ that was such a legend. Terri shines in her own right.
Here are some of the images I captured that morning, as the official BC Brisbane photographer. I love getting feedback, so if you appreciate this post, you can ‘Like’, share on twitter, or ‘+1′ below.
Terri is truly an inspirational woman. It is nice to see the woman emerge from behind such a personality to share her life and her passion for her work, wildlife, her family and the community. And how refreshing to be reminded how important it is to celebrate our individuality. Thank you for sharing the photos, they are supurb.
